NICHOLAS IANDOLO

Presents an exciting new class on the business of screenwriting!

The Business of Screenwriting—An Introductory Course on How to Break In

Based on the success of his If You Don't Pitch It, They Won't Come class for the 2011 Rhode Island International Film Festival's Script Biz Workshop, Nicholas Iandolo has refined and expanded the class into a three-week, three-night course that will educate the aspiring and niave screenwriter as to the realities of the industry and give them tools and resources to survive the gauntlet that they will have to endure upon embarking on this often-times emotionally challenging journey.

Course Description

You’ve poured your blood, sweat, and tears into your screenplays, diligently crafting every scene, every word, every character’s story arc, everything! Now what are you going to do? That’s where The Business of Screenwriting course comes in. In this course you will learn:

This course is a concise tour of the entertainment industry maze that Nick will give the participants a realistic overview of what they can expect when attempting to break into this next to impossible and grueling industry. However, for those lucky few with nerves of steel, the patience of a saint, and unflappable resolve, the rewards can be amazing!

Reading Requirements

There are three very relevant books that the students may get but are not required for this class.

Writing Movies for Fun and Profit by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon

Tales From The Script edited by Peter Hanson and Paul Robert Herman

Cut The Crap and PITCH THAT DAMN SCREENPLAY! By Nicholas Iandolo (available exclusively to class participants for a nominal fee)

The only other mandatory requirement for this class is that the students must have written at least one industry standard (or close to it) feature length (90 to 120 pages give or take) screenplay ready to pitch.
